Few Notes, Reminders and ‘Rules’

Posted by admin on August 20th, 2008

Dear Friends and Fellow Alumni

I didn’t want to send several emails for each of these topics so I’m condensing all of them in one email.

Birthdays

We celebrated all August birthdays with a birthday cake and a candle for each celebrant to blow at yesterday’s happy hour.   We will continue to make this a tradition at every monthly event we have. You may also have noticed that our secretary, Kristina Estipular has set up the birthdays in our yahoo groups.

You can update your birthdays at our yahoo egroup yourself or you can ask Kristina to do it for you if you don’t know how.   In order to prevent email overload, please email her directly at estipular@cox.net instead of using the egroup email address.

We have also set-up the yahoo greetings to send out the greetings for that month’s celebrants, once only.  It will be at the beginning of each month listing all celebrants for that month.
Events

We would like our events not only on a monthly basis, but also geared towards family and spouses.  Our alumni has evolved from just all male to include also active female members and spouses, to members without children to members with younger and teenage children and the diversity of age groups is very encouraging.

Please help us plan out events so that it caters to everyone.   We don’t want you to leave your children with babysitters all the time.  Please don’t be shy and email me at eileen_nadal@yahoo.com of any suggestions.  It can be anything as daring as an end of summer water park field trip, a casual bring-your-own-picnic basket & blanket at Wolftrap, an outdoor hike which might include our growing photographers, a wine tasting fest, sports events, mini golf, Sat/Fri night poker game, rock climbing, adobo night, hanging out at the movies or just eating out, anything!   Your imagination can be your guide.

Also if you would like to host any of our activities at your home, please let me know.  Kung malaki lang ang bahay ko it will be at my house all the time :-)

Emails

Our e-group has become busy as is expected of any active association.   For all those who are not used to it, you may go to the yahoo groups and change your settings to daily digest.  This will ensure that you receive your emails once each day only.  I think the only drawback is you won’t see the attachments, so you may miss out on the valuable pictures or flyers.

I would also like to remind the members on their responses if they want the emails/responses to be seen by the entire e-group or just the person sending the email. Our association does not have a by-law for email etiquette, but just use sound judgment.

I usually send emails at least once a week (or maybe daily) at the rate that our association is headed into (a really good thing J), so if you have news or information you would like me to include or mention to the group please let me or any member of the board know.

Camera

Someone left a digital camera at the picnic we held last July 26th.  If you lost yours, please let Adjo, our immediate past president know at adjogonzalez@hotmail.com
Thank you for all your astounding support.

New members, keep on growing with us.
