LSPAA Supports DLSAA Lipa’s Book Mobile & Literacy Program
The BookMobile Reading and Literarcy program was put in place because of the Filipinos inadequate access to public libraries. Most collections in these libraries are limited if not outdated. It is then DLSAA Lipa’s mission to provide our youth access through a transportable library and have a guided reading program through its volunteers. Their goal is to provide interesting and suitable reading resources for elementary public school students. They will also conduct tutorial classes and reading skills to students. They also offer supplementary instruction in writing, math, english and science.
Where does LSPAA come in…
First we have decided to make a monetary contribution to help fund this project. Secondly, we will be sending books to DLSAA Lipa. This is where I will need volunteers to help finish this project.
Tony Zulueta has volunteered to help. Ferdinand Manibog volunteered to be a donor to fund the cost to send 1 box. We may need more donors to cover the cost to ship the box via ocean in case we get more donations. I had a few members who donated books already. Please look into your basements and garages for grade school level books, ask for help from your local churches if they could make an announcement and let you put a basket for book donations, send an email to where you work, look into your individual organization, your prayer groups, walk with your children or spouin your neighboorhood, the possibilities are endless…just be creative and have the desire to help.
I hope to finish this project by Fall 2009. Send me an email if you’d like more info or if you’d like me to send you a copy of the CD about the program.
As of now, the drop off point is still me. I can meet you halfway if you have a book donation or meet you whenever I’m in the Virginia area, just let me know.
“Every book opened by a child is another survival tool acquired for life” Please make every effort to help support this project. Your book donation and volunteer efforts will not cost you anything, but will open the horizon of child that would promote wealth, well-being and self-reliance.
Please make yourself intrumental in helping shape the lives of our Filipino children.
