Operation Alkansiya

Operation Alkansiya

Dear Alumni,

Since 1911, Lasallian schools in the Philippines have been educating and forming young people who have gone on to become movers and shakers in Philippine society. Today however, we face the reality of rising educational costs, inadequate government support, poverty and the exodus of good teachers abroad, which are making quality education less accessible to the young people who need it most.

For this reason, the De La Salle Philippines is launching the One La Salle Scholarship Fund Campaign, a project aimed at widening access to Lasallian education. Currently, 9% of the 89,974 students enrolled in 18 Lasallian schools are on some form of scholarship and financial assistance. The goal of the One La Salle campaign is to increase the scholarship base to 20% in each of the schools by 2011 – that’s 18,000 young people benefiting from a quality education they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford.

Our chapter goal is to generate $18,000 for the One La Salle Scholarship Fund by March 2011. To accomplish this goal we will request the individual alumna to set aside a small amount each month from January 2008 till December 2010 via our own Operation Alkansiya.

The donations could be tax deductible as each one will be individually received and acknowledged by the De La Salle Institute, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation representing all La Salle charities.

Each of your contributions will be collected on a quarterly basis (or up-front via postdated checks) and will be tracked and deposited into a new separate LSPAA bank account. It will remain your money and reimbursed to you in case of an emergency during the donation year. After the first week of December with your authorization, we will remit all cash collected to De La Salle Institute, Inc. with your name, address and amount donated. You will receive an acknowledgement letter directly from them for tax purposes.

In 2011, our chapter will submit an advertisement to the 100th Anniversary Souvenir program listing out all the individual donors and the amounts donated. This will surely become a widely publicized event. And you will be part of it!

We hope that you consider participating in our Operation Alkansiya.

Thank you and God Bless!

Adjo Gonzalez, President
